OVERVIEW

We are on the search for a skilled and well-rounded senior workplace interior designer looking to step into a Lead Design Director role to run a team of designers on fast paced Design + Construct projects. This is an exciting career move that will enable you to take a key influencing role in a growing business, working alongside the other company Directors to shape the business direction and your career.

You will take ownership of a small design team and be the lead designer on a range of workplace projects whilst also playing a key leadership role to the rest of the business. The role requires close interaction and collaboration with our Design, Business Development + Project Management team and you will have a design flare and eye for detail, evident in your portfolio and the ability to lead a project from concept to completion whilst managing and directing a team of designers. You will receive a direct hand's-on experience in a supportive environment with opportunities to grow and lead.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage a team of designers

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to define business strategy

  • Conduct employee reviews and on-going development

  • Prepare design fee proposals

  • Manage project resourcing and team accountability

  • Actively participate on sales opportunities to win new business

  • Conduct client briefing sessions

  • Prepare concept designs with the team

  • Confidently pitch and present to clients

  • Prepare spatial planning, test fit and schematic design schemes

  • Prepare design development presentations and documentation

  • Confidently liaise with external sub consultants + suppliers

  • Manage the preparation of tender + construction documentation package

  • Maintain a good understanding of all projects to ensure project financial targets are met

  • Drive design best practise, initiatives, and processes

  • Demonstrate industry thought leadership

 

YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE

  • Excellent client facing communication attributes

  • Relevant local interior design experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in interior design or Interior Architecture

  • ACAD or Revit skills essential

  • A competent understanding of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign

  • Competent experience in commercial workplace interiors

  • Exposure to workplace Design + Construct projects

  • Confident in your communication skills and client facing

  • Strong aesthetic in design and presentations

  • Strong documentation knowledge

  • Technical knowledge and ability to develop concept design through to documentation

  • Ability to work independently with effective time management

  • Familiar with Australian building regulations and standards

  • SketchUp and Enscape experience is advantageous but not essential

  • A willingness to learn, grow and evolve and be a driving force within the business
